VCD WEEK 6.2

Rational

My Topic was Nature Photography and my aim was to show the reader 3 locations for photography that showcase Wellingtons beautiful nature. The 3 locations I chose were Moa Point (coastal), Mount Kaukau (hills/mountains) and Birchville Dam (bush/waterfalls). I chose these three locations because they all have very different scenery. The Atmosphere and attitude that I wanted to convey was minimal, geometric and structured to represent elements of cameras and photography. I achieved by layering with strong use of rectangles to represent the photographs, Contrast, utilizing negative space for the minimal look, and using one stand out colour to reflect the location. What I learnt about my own process is that I need to be creating more ideas at the beginning and pumping out quick concepts rather than spending time on just one good concept.

VCD WEEK 5.1

Today's class we printed our first draft of our full booklet to get our first look at the complete booklet, this helps to see it all come together giving me another perspective to see room for improvement. After one on one time the feedback I got helped a lot and told me what changes I needed to make next. These adjustments were to make the map smaller instead of taking up 2 pages and also to make the outline of the map made by me rather than using the official map outline of Wellington, this helped to make the spread look more design rather than just throw on.

VCD WEEK 4.2

Today's class we had a lecture about maps which is what we worked on in class. The idea that I have for my map is to be quite minimal to match the rest of my collages, drawing attention to he locations on the map and not drawing all the attention to the map it's self. I worked on that concept today and set up the type on the spread aswell, ready for feedback next lesson on what I could do to improve.

VCD WEEK 4.1

Todays class was interim presentation, where we layed out everything we have done for our brochures so far and went around the class giving each other feedback. This was very helpful to me because I learnt that my collages weren't conveying my theme of "Nature Photography" strong enough and instead it came across as nature walks ect.. What I took from that is that I need to add more photographic elements such as framing, iso, aperture, shutter speed, cameras, people taking photos.

VCD WEEK 3.2

This Thursday's class was a practice presentation for next mondays interim presentation, at this point I was behind and didn't have my collages ready so this lesson I spent getting my collages and spreads ready for Monday. I worked on thumbnail sketches using grids, coming up with type concepts to match my collages.
